Attendance

Raw weeks as faint points, a 4-week rolling mean over them. A week nobody recorded is a break in the line and never a point between its neighbours. A service the bulletin says was cancelled is a different thing — ringed on the axis, and stepped over by the mean rather than breaking it.

Engagement

Evening core is Sunday PM over Sunday AM; midweek core is Wednesday over the same Sunday. This is where erosion shows before the headline count moves — the same people can keep coming on Sunday morning while the evening thins out for a year first.

Giving

Weekly contribution as bars against the budget in effect that week, with the running year-to-date variance beneath. The variance area restarts every January and stops at the year's first missing contribution rather than summing around it.

The solid line is the four-week mean, the same window the attendance trend uses. It is what answers “is giving holding up”, which no single bar does — a fifth Sunday or a special contribution moves one week by half again. It breaks at a missing Sunday rather than averaging the three weeks that happen to be there: a mean over a week nobody recorded is not a four-week mean, and drawing it as one would be a confident answer about giving the archive knows nothing about.

Seasonality

Sunday morning by week of the year: the median across every year on record, the inter-quartile band around it, and this year drawn over the top. Answers “is this a bad month or a bad year” without arithmetic. Median and quartiles rather than a mean, because one Easter moves a mean much further than it moves the shape being described.
